The conversation covers Dr. Heidi's journey into psychology, the evolution of psychology and therapeutic modalities, the role of AI in mental health support, and the importance of authenticity and…
Heidi HeronGuestYeah, but you also have to remember too, though, psychology was different when you were in school versus when a lot of these guys now were in school.
True.
So the changes have been so different.
So you're getting to learn a vast majority of new things that these guys are learning just now, you know, plus you're adding in your, your, your knowledge of just being there, you know, you've been there, you've done these things, you, you know, you've experienced things, you traveled the world and talk to different spaces and different people, you know, and it's awesome though, because now you can bring it back and you can teach some of these other guys some things, you know, and show a lot of these people, you know, some of this lived experience you've had, you know, just the things how, you know, some of these newer things that you're learning, you know, a lot of Eastern medicine, like I was saying, was showing up now a lot more than it has ever before.
Yeah.
You have somatic and all them other things that are coming out of the woodworks you have.
Now you have hypnotherapists that are doing amazing things these days.
So now you have a repertoire of the other things that you could just keep adding to your toolkit and just keep adding it as you go.
Yeah,

And I don't necessarily think like somebody was saying, well, what's the best modality? What's the best thing to do? And I don't know that there is an answer.

I think that there's probably four or five things that will work for anybody and lots of stuff that just won't.

And so it's a matter of figuring out and finding out for you, like as an individual that might need some help, the right modality and the right person, because not every therapist or counselor is the same and not every modality is the same.

A lot of people find me and they go, well, you know, I've done all kinds of things that I was about to give up.

Don't give up because there's somebody that has somebody's mentality and somebody's toolbox.

You know, I find that hard to believe, but everybody has their own journey and path and what, what fits for them.
Yeah, you know, and that's right.
I think I love that answer.
