And then there are tons of people on kind of the opposite camp where they think it's absolutely true.
I kind of lie somewhere in the middle where I think like a lot of these things probably happened to them, but then they got kind of blown out of proportion for the book and for the movies even more.

No kids in George's marriage, but there are three children from Kathy's previous marriage, Danny, who's 10 years old, Christopher, 7, and Melissa, who goes by Missy, 5 years old.
As they're house hunting, the realtor kind of goes out on a limb and shows them a house that's pretty out of budget for them, but it's the DeFeo property.
Before they go into the house and look at it, this realtor doesn't say anything about the history of the house, and the DeFeos actually don't know.
As they're leaving the property, having completely fallen for this property, and they're like, this is our new home, the realtor comes clean and says, okay, I don't know if I should have told you this before we viewed the property or if now is the appropriate time, but this is the house where the DeFeo slings took place last year.

I think I would want there to be a longer window of time because if it happened like 20 years ago, 30 years ago, fine.
