24: Elon's Back, Cornyn's Pissed, and the DNC Is Broke

So the Senate

has two things going on right now that are kind of driving headlines.

One is a number of Republican senators are calling to cancel or delay August recess to try and pass the Save America Act.

I really liked yesterday that Senator Thune, the majority leader, said when he was asked, you know, the president was asked about, you know, the president wanting to cancel August.

He's like, well, the numbers just aren't there on this.

Like the math isn't mathing for him to warrant keeping senators in town in an on cycle year where we're trying to defend the Senate majority.

He doesn't have the votes for the Save America Act.

He doesn't have the votes to nuke the filibuster.

So all we're doing is continuing to just shoot ourselves in the foot.

But say we're doing it for the sake of being team players.

What do you think?

As a Democrat, I would love for the Senate to stay in session from now until November, not let any of their members come back to campaign in states like Maine, Michigan.

I would love for the Senate to do their job and be held hostage by the president, who will then sacrifice the Senate majority in the process if he were to actually carry through and require them to stay in.

I mean, again, at the end of the day, the votes aren't there.

And one of the problems that this president has, and I talked about this way back when, when it kind of went down, like when you nuke sitting senators who are still going to be in office, you know, till January, you know, whether it's Cassidy or Tillis or Cornyn, like they can make your life very difficult, very complicated.

And there's no political incentive at all for them to go along, get along.

They're out the door.

They're toast.

They're done.

They're leaving.

And especially when you're talking about people like Cornyn, Cassidy, Tillis, like they care about the institution.

They are not going to go along with nuking the filibuster.

They're not going to give you clear votes on your nominees.

They're not going to just roll over because there's no reason for them to.

You nuked them.
