Welcome back to the Orthodox Health Podcast.
I'm your host, Dr. Michael Christian.
And I'm your co-host, John.
Mike, the Dormition fast is right around the corner, which means a lot of Orthodox Christians are bound to realize they have exactly three fasting meals in their entire repertoire.
That's right.
Pasta.
Yeah.
And hummus masquerading as an entree.
Exactly.
And coming off of our third conversation with Nick Hillman, where we spent so much time talking about rebuilding a healthier food culture from the soil to the farm to the food on our table, it feels like the right moment to take that conversation one step further.
Because eventually every Orthodox Christian has to answer a much more practical question.
The fast starts next week.
what am I actually going to eat?
And Nick helped us to zoom out and look upstream, where we talked about regenerative agriculture, food quality, healthy animals, soil, ecosystems, but eventually all that comes back to what's on your own dinner plate.
And with Dormition quickly approaching, we're about to spend the next two weeks making very concrete decisions about what we are and what we're not going to be putting on our plate.
So rather than doing another straight nutrition lecture, we thought we'd make this one a little bit more interactive.
which means you made a tier list, didn't you? That's right.
I made a tier list.
Fantastic.
And so everyone knows at this point, I have not yet seen the rankings.
Right.
Because
