Jamie McDonald, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that Michael Smith was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in a scheme to defraud music streaming platforms and musicians of royalty payments.
On March 19th, 2026, Smith pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud before U.S. District Judge John G. Coetti, who imposed today's sentence.
