Ben SteinerHostYeah, it's always nice when, uh, a, a random Wednesday night in August all of a sudden carries a bit of significance because you got the Canada's men's U20 team playing, and man, just what a game.
I just say that because there were all the hallmarks of past U20 disappointments.
And then even you look at Panama, like Santiago López scored that goal and then you were, you're, you, you thought just maybe, and then boom, it went away.
There was a close VAR call, and then Jamaica scores, and you're like, "Oh, here we go again." But this Canadian team is different, and I think, uh, just wanted to shout out to Jesse Marsch.
For him to be on the [chuckles] sidelines in Mexico, where he had quite the, the few weeks.
I mean, we saw the clips after the first Jamaica game where he looked like he wanted to be anywhere but that bench.
Uh, for him, Mauro Biello, a- and the rest of the staff to, to get this done, it's obviously a huge achievement for the program.

And of course, the game as well was actually pretty entertaining 'cause it, it came out with, uh, Liam McKenzie brace, and the first goal he scored was absolutely, uh, exceptional.

It was, it was one-nil and then it was, uh, heartbreak in the, I think, 88th minute, uh, from the Toronto FC product, uh, that scored against Canada.

And it looked like it was just gonna go back into, you know, what Canada's been used to.

Come close and then a little bit of heartbreak at the end of these qualifying stages, whether that's, you know, the past eras of the national team, uh, or these youth national teams.

Um, but Canada able to show some grit in this one and, and get the job done, uh, in extra time, especially not just with the McKenzie penalty, but also that goal from Max Vogeli was, uh, I mean, one of the best goals I've ever seen.

Like, [chuckles] like he hit that ball so cleanly, uh, with the outside o- of his left foot.
Like, it was one of those where the, his face couldn't contain the emotion.
