This Wasn't On Our Radar... | Daily San Francisco 49ers News & Rumors

We'll start with the special teams, because I'm giving them a D, man.

This was a bad performance from the special teams.

Eddie Pinheiro, not one, but two missed extra points.

He did hit a huge field goal at the end of the first half, so...

Great kick there, but yeesh, like you gotta make your extra points.

That was something he struggled with coming to San Francisco from, you know, Carolina and Chicago, wherever else he was.

That was always something he struggled with.

Really didn't struggle with it last year.

Last year he was excellent.

Field goals and extra points.

But yeah, two misses in a single game is tough.

You don't want to see that.

Especially a game where the Cardinals weren't totally out of it for a while.

And then also the big play that I'm sure everybody's thinking about.

Saron Neal on punt coverage.

He made a few impact plays, believe it or not, but he had one massive mistake.

He ended up muffing a punt that the Cardinals recovered.

They turned that into a touchdown.

It was just not a good day.

And there were some positives, right? Like I thought the return game was pretty decent, right? They didn't give up very much on the Cardinals end of special teams.

The onside kick recovery was great.

That was very smooth.

But yeah, we've got higher expectations here for Brant Boyer's unit.

I think this is one of their worst days since Brant Boyer took over.

If I had to rank them, it's probably that week one game last year where Jake Moody missed two field goals.
