Kevin Givens

I think there's one or two things 49ers could do.

The most logical, uh, the one that makes the sen- most sense to me is Oko- Ogbo Okoronkwo gets, uh, added to the active 53-man roster, and then they end up elevating Sebastian Valdez or Kevin Givens.

I think Valdez would make the most sense if you do it that direction.

They could also elevate Kevin Givens to the 53-man roster and, and just continue to leave Oko- Ogbo Okoronkwo on the practice squad for now.

So I think that those are some moves that happened, but I expect two defensive linemen, one to be added to the 53, one to be elevated.

The other person I expect to be elevated, and a player that's gonna play in this game for the 49ers I believe, will be, uh, wide receiver Kaderril Hodge.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a familiar face.

Me personally, like a Kevin Givens.

Me personally, though, I would go with the rookie.

I think Grayson Halton, if he's healthy, he's your best option.

we touched down, no doubt about it, and Kyle Shanahan said, listen, do you guys know any of the defensive tackles that we could plug and play right now that's over here? We're going to have to utilize probably a Kevin Givens from our practice squad, somebody that's been on the team for quite a few years here.

Well, not here, but for the San Francisco 49ers.

But I think the 49ers will bust a move.

Now they probably need a defensive tackle, and not just some guy off a practice squad.

No offense to Kevin Givens or, or, uh, the little baby Hulk or, or whatever we're gonna call anybody.

And everybody can be positive and spin it how they want, but the loss of Sam Mokwona, the loss of Alfred Collins, the fact that you have a bunch of young guys, it's an if, if, if.

Now Holden's gotta come through.

That'd be sweet if it was basketball, but it doesn't seem like it is.

So bottom line to the whole thing is, and then practice squad guys.

We've seen Kevin Givens for years.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was moved up.

So I think what you're saying has merit, but regardless, the 49ers are going to have to deal with that all season long.

And we got a question here that I wanted to answer from Niner Faithful 8080, who says with Collins done for the year, how does it work with elevating a player from the practice squad before the game? I think this is either going to be Kevin Givens or the Hulk could be either one of those.

I would assume it's going to be Kevin Givens, given the Niners love of veteran players.

I mean, if they are, it's a Thursday game, so I can't remember what the cutoff is to be able to actually put somebody on IR and make somebody not practice squad elevation, but an actual roster person.

I think it's too late.

And in that scenario, I don't know that they would do Kevin Givens because remember, if you're a veteran of a certain length, which I think Kevin Givens has reached that number of years, then your contract becomes fully guaranteed if you're on roster week one game.

So I don't know that it would be Kevin Givens that's given that roster spot right away.

And I would suspect that might be why the Niners haven't raced to get him, get Alfred Collins on IR and get Kevin Givens on roster because they can wait until after this week one game and then say Kevin Givens is signed.

... after this injury happened that the Niners do have a couple of defensive tackle auction, uh, options on their practice squad that they can call up.

Uh, Kevin Givens or Sebastian Valdez.

However, a lot of people have pointed out that the Niners have accumulated $45 million-
