Can deception actually be taught? Or is it simply something that elite players develop naturally over time?In this episode of the My Tennis Coaching Podcast, I sit down with ITF coach and researcher…
William O'ConnellGuestWelcome to the My Tennis Coaching podcast, your go-to resource for all things tennis coaching.
Stay tuned for insightful discussions and practical tips that will make a real difference on and off the court.
Deception, does it have a place within tennis? And more importantly, does it have a place within tennis coaching? Welcome as always to the My Tennis Coaching podcast.
And today I am joined by William O'Connell, a Fijian born tennis coach living out in America, coaching in a very ecological way.
And Will has just recently published a academic journal in the ITF Coaching Sports Science Review on deception, and how it plays a huge part not only in the game, the sport of tennis, but how he applies it within tennis coaching as well.
These chats are just part of my monthly My Tennis Coach Academy meetups, in which we invite expert speakers to come across, present some new, fresh, innovative ideas to tennis coaches, and coaches can watch live, engage with the speaker, ask them questions, or they can watch the replay as well.
Um, unfortunately, I press record about a couple of minutes into the, uh, conversation.
Uh, we miss out Will's amazing introduction, where he discusses his playing background and his coaching background.
He explores, and this is where we pick up the conversation, ecological dynamics in and around 2020.
So the conversation picks up as Will discusses his transition from playing into coaching and him exploring ecological dynamics.
