This week on **Ministry of Horror**, we’re reviewing two new horror releases with our thoughts on the increasingly talked-about folk horror film **HOKUM** and the creature-feature thriller **COLD…
First up, "Sarah Michelle Gellar playing the Grim Reaper in supernatural romance from producers Radio Silence," John Squires writes.
"Sarah Michelle Gellar is the Grim Reaper and, uh, Rudi Pankow is the Devil in supernatural romance Thud, Deadline reports this week.
Mali Elfman is directing the film with Radio Silence producing.
Deadline details, based on an original screenplay by Noga Pnelly, uh, Thud watches as the Grim Reaper and the Devil meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event where they've each come to sow their own chaos.
Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are producing Thud for Radio Silence.
Uh, the project marks a reunion between the filmmaking team and Sarah Michelle Gellar after Ready or Not 2.
Mali Elfman directed the animated short, The Scariest Skeleton, and she's also producing horror films, including Queens of the Damned, Queens of the Dead," sorry, I can't read, uh, "Haunting of Queen Mary, and Birth Re-Birth." And there's some random topless guy.
Don't know how that's relevant to the news.
[sighs] I mean, a supernatural rom-com, not really my thing, but I do enjoy Radio Silence's output.
And Sarah Michelle Gellar, um, she ...
I mean, we all grew up with her.
Well, not all of us, but we grew up with her as Buffy, and it was a nice performance that she had recently in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
Of course, that's another Radio Silence joint.
But yeah, she just, she hasn't really, post-Buffy, hit a consistent, uh, a consistent career in TV or film.
You know, she's had roles post-Buffy, or during Buffy, I think, of Scream 2 and The Grudge.
Uh, TV, I know she's notably had a number of series, but they've only had one, one or two seasons.
Um, it's a real shame.
She's a great actress, and as I say, really enjoyed her in Ready or Not 2, but, uh, probably not my sort of thang, gonna be honest.
Now, this is my sort of thang.
"George A. Romero's Day of the Dead gets new life after search for long lost film elements," Megan Navarro writes.
"I was told that this couldn't be found by some people that I worked with, and that just set a fire in me," Scream Factory producer Jeff Roland says of the newly restored Day of the Dead in 4K from the seemingly long lost original interpos- interpositive.
[laughs] The four-disc release, loaded with special features and new interviews in addition to the restoration, arrives almost exactly three years after Roland began his long pursuit of the missing elements that he was warned were lost to time.
A huge departure from the popular Dawn of the Dead, third film set its battle for humanity survival in an underground bunker waged between a small group of scientists and ruthless soldiers.
