So starting off, Bruce Campbell shoots down the idea of voicing Ash Williams in any animated Evil Dead projects.

Your boy John Squires writes, Bruce Campbell has made it very clear after Ash vs.

Evil Dead was cancelled that he was retired from playing Ash Williams, with the franchise moving beyond the iconic character in recent instalments Evil Dead Rise, Evil Dead Burn and the upcoming Evil Dead Wrath.

While he is done with playing Ash in the world of live action, however, Campbell had been leaving the door open to the idea of voicing Ash in an Evil Dead animated project.

That door, it seems, has now been closed as well.

Campbell tells Screen Rant in a new chat, Ash is done.

I'm not going to do any animated voice work.

They can get Joe Ash sound alike.

There are ways to recreate my voice now.

No word yet on whether or not any sort of animated Evil Dead project will be moving forward with or without Bruce Campbell, as we haven't heard any updates on that for a while now.

But it seems Bruce Campbell has ended his direct involvement with the franchise both in front of as well as behind the camera, choosing to focus on other life and career aspirations.

Up next for Bruce Campbell, he directs and stars in the indie comedy Ernie and Emma, which follows a pear salesman who embarks on a journey following the death of his wife.

After 25 years as an executive secretary, Emma leaves behind a detailed list of instructions regarding her ashes, which leads Ernie on a series of challenging and reflective escapades.

Okay, so I mean, I'm a big Evil Dead fan.

It does feel, I mean, it makes sense because it does feel that this world, the modern world of Evil Dead 2013, which he does have a very small cameo in, little, you know, Easter egg, I suppose, more than a cameo.

Evil Dead Rise and of course Evil Dead Burn, they've moved in a different direction.

It's very much the Deadite focus, Book of the Dead, Kadarian Daggers, whatever they pronounce those, and less about the Ash Williams adventures.

Which is fine, and I think that is sensible at the end of the day.

If you are continuing in that universe or in that world, you know, we had the throwbacks with the Ash vs.

Evil Dead series, which, you know, I dropped off on.

I found series two a bit boring personally.

But I do think that that's how series film franchises have to adapt is you can't keep focusing on just the same returning character, the same returning protagonist or whatnot.

And similar to the news on Nightmare on Elm Street, where it's like we're going to have to find a new Freddy because ultimately these actors will age out.
