Francis I thought she did a great job I thought she was very believable I guess they had her at the beginning I didn't get a chance to look this up but at the beginning was she in like like a fat suit and makeup kind of thing or did she lose weight she had to be because she's no she's quite yeah no I I agree but I was like I you know the the makeup that she it certainly wasn't like the thinner makeup it was

But there's also some sore spots about this movie that I do want to talk about.

So if you've never heard of Sakurin, essentially we follow Hanna, played by Midori Francis, who succumbs to an obscure weight loss craze that involves eating human ashes.

Yes, you heard that right.

Hannah quickly finds herself terrorized by the ghost of the person she's eating, and this leads to some bizarre behavior that affects her love interest, her friends, herself, and her family.

Yeah, quite a few things.

I'm glad we touched on Midori Francis.

I think she did a fantastic job in this role.

It's like, okay, you're not reinforcing the right things.

Even though it was a fat suit for Midori Francis in the beginning of the film, she actually looked better.

A little bit more meat on her bones than I thought she did as a skinny person.

So I thought she actually did that up very well.

Yeah.

So it stars Midori Francis, which is part of the reason why I want to see this movie.

She's got a huge crush on her.

She's so fucking funny, too.

But I think she's very cute.

And then the other people, I didn't recognize any of them or their names, but the other people in the movie are very minimal in their roles.

It's mainly just focused on Midori Francis' character.

But we have Daniel McDonald, Madeline Madden, Robert Taylor, Shoko Shafukete.

And I feel like she did a great job.

Saccharin stars Midori Francis, Danielle Macdonald, and Madeline Madden.

It had a limited theater release on May 22nd of this year, 2026, and came to Shudder a few weeks ago, so that's where you can stream it if you'd like to catch it before we spoil it.

I was so stoked for this movie to come out.

I thought it was really beautifully shot, super stylized in a way that I s- really appreciated.
