Kirby Reed

Scream with Ryan C. Showers is your source for scene and quote analysis, character dissections, and the latest news about upcoming installments of the scary movie franchise.

I hear you like horror movies, Kirby, but do you like them as much as him?

Hello, everybody, and welcome to Scream with Ryan C. Showers.

I'm your host, Ryan C. Showers.

[laughs] I'm always gonna be like, "Treat my lady well.

Treat Gale." She's way bigger of a character than any of them, and while she has the best sequence in the movie, they just disrespected her so much.

And again, great to see Kirby.

I'm so thankful now especially that Hayden was back.

She has done stuff that we have covered before.

She plays Kirby Reed in this one, but we covered her on Remember the Titans, where she's frigging adorable-

Yeah

... and hilarious.

Like, again, I hadn't seen this all the way through, and I was like, "This is such a great character." Like, I love this for her.

She crushes it.

She, yeah, Kirby, uh, was such a great addition to the franchise.

I'm surprised they didn't, like, bring her back for five because I think this is just a really fun character.

I think the first one, her name is Hayden Panettiere.

She played Kirby in the screen movies.

She passed away.

I was shocked, bro.

She starred in I Love You, Beth Cooper in 2009, and as Amanda Knox in the film Amanda Knox, Murder on Trial in Italy in 2011.

In 2011, she also got the role in Scream 4 as Kirby Reed.

This contract came with the stipulation that they wouldn't kill her off, ensuring that she could come back for future movies in the Scream franchise, which was awesome because that really helped her later in her career.

In March 2012, it was announced that she would appear that she would star opposite of Connie Britton on the show Nashville.

From there, she starred in the musical drama series Nashville, which was phenomenal.

From 2012 to 2018, earning two Golden Globe nominations and played fan favorite Kirby in 2011's Scream 4 and 2023's Scream 5.

Ah, Scream 6, sorry.

Hayden's other screen credits include Disney's 2005 ice skating movie Ice Princess, in which she co-starred with Michelle Trattenberg, who also passed away.
