So the first story that I have for you guys today is I'm going to recap what happened at the Good American pop-up and all of the creator drama going down.
So Khloé Kardashian and Emma Grede's denim brand, Good American, is facing backlash after influencers claimed that they were invited to an exclusive preview of its New York City pop-up store, and they were not given the experience that they were promised.
The controversy started after creators began posting TikToks over the weekend about their experiences at the event, which was held ahead of the pop-up opening to the public.
So according to screenshots of the invitation shared online, influencers were emailed in September and invited to visit the Soho store on Wednesday for a, quote, "exclusive preview and a first look at the collection before it opened to everyone else." Guests were asked to RSVP through a form and select a time slot to attend.
All of this, as somebody who's in the industry, all of this is very, very normal, to have a time slot that you go to a preview, to be seeing a preview, like, doing some type of, like, influencer media preview ahead of it opening to the public.
I also want to note, before I keep going, the creators who are talking about this, some of them are also saying that their management received these emails.
Because I think people are going into this story assuming it's, like, micro-influencers that maybe, like, don't understand the industry or feel like they should've been treated better or whatever.
So there was, like, a range of creators, bigger creators, smaller creators, creators with management, who all received the same treatment and all felt like it was not up to par, essentially.
And creator management teams, their whole job is relationships with brands and publicists and dealing with invites and partnerships and all that kind of stuff.
So, like, the fact that creators who also, like, this went through their management teams, they also had this experience, like, it tells you that this was the experience.
Okay, so given Good American is such a huge and buzzy brand, obviously Khloé Kardashian is so famous.
I am slightly, like, toxic girlboss coded myself, and therefore [laughs] I resonate with a lot of her content, and I enjoy her content.
So some creators who were invited traveled to this event, 'cause obviously they're like, "Oh my god, like, a Kardashian event.
And then when they got there, they claimed the event was so poorly organized, with massive lines down the street, that some of them said their designated time slot came and went, and they weren't even, like, close to the front, and they were not able to even get into the pop-up.
