Send us Fan Mail We pull over for an elderly woman lying in the grass beside a busy road and sit with the uncomfortable truth that most people kept…
I'm driving back from my studio, and probably about 300 yards down the road, like the building's end, and then it's just the side of the road.
But down here in South Florida, a lot of these bigger streets don't really have sidewalks.
So this is basically just a curb, and then probably about 15 to 20 yards of grass on say more like 15 yards of grass, then big hedges.
And that just goes for about a quarter of a mile until you come up to a light.
So it's really like no one really walks in it.
But I'm driving, and I look.
I just look to my right because I'm heading west, and I look to my right, and I'm like, what the fuck? And I, is that a body? And I look over.
And it's a body laying in the grass.
I'm like, what the fuck? So this is a busy street, mind you.
So I have to go over three lanes, two lanes to get to a U-turn.
And in all this time, there's people driving by, driving by, driving by.
Now this car's heading east, and I have to wait to do this U-turn because it's busy.
And this isn't a light.
This is one of those you're on your own U-turns.
So I finally get the U-turn after a couple minutes.
And in that time, hundreds of cars have gone by.
And I drive down, and I look to my left now.
I look out the window, and I see...
Across, that's a body.
There's a body in the grass over there.
I don't know alive or dead.
I just see a body.
So I have to go up.
Now I have to make the U-turn to come back up.
I'm waiting, waiting.
