Deadly Andes Hantavirus Outbreak on MV Hondius Cruise Ship: Possible Human to Human Transmission

We have the Hondias, which is a ship that does cruising out of Argentina and goes through the South Atlantic and up to Africa.

This ship, as you can see here pictured, is not a large ship.

It's got a staff and crew of about seventy-two.

It's over three hundred feet long, and you can see here that there is a number of rooms on this ship.

Let's look at it a little bit more in terms of the itinerary for this one.

So particularly, it left March twentieth from Ushuaia, Argentina, and it went around this part of the world.

That's right around here.

Goes through the Drake Passage area and a number of areas there in the peninsula of Antarctica, and then it basically headed straight up into this area here, where it ends at Cape Verde.

You can see all of the different stops here, starting in Argentina and around the Antarctic Circle, Marguerite Bay area, Stonington Island, Petermann, et cetera, this bay area.

And then it goes to South Georgia.

This is starting in April first, and that's going up to this area here, and it's going through the South Atlantic.

You can see some of the other areas.

Saint Helena, that'll become important as we talk a little bit more.

Saint Andrews Bay.

And then finally, it gets into Cape Verde, Santiago Island, which is just up in this area here.

That ends May fourth, which is today.

This is where the cruise ends.
