The (Not-So-Funny) Fun House - Part 1

What's the word I want to say? Not re-implicated.

What the heck kind of a word is that? Reintroduced into the public consciousness.

So let me explain to you or give you the definition through Google of what gaslighting is.

It is number one, a form of psychological abuse and mental manipulation meant to make a person doubt their own reality, memory, or sanity.

Could you see how it sort of works quite well with the picture of the so-called fun house? And it centers, gaslighting centers on tactics like, number one, denying events.

Number two, twisting facts.

And number three, lying repeatedly.

The source, by the way, for that definition came out of the Cleveland Clinic.

Now, I went on dictionary.com, which I happen to like, and they gave a second definition for gaslighting.

And I really like this one as well because it kind of gives a picture or a segue into where we're going with this living happy inside out process on the Not So Funny Funhouse.

Dictionary.com defines gaslighting as something to deceive either a person or a group of people.

Ready? Through repetition of a constructed false narrative.

I'll read it again.

Gaslighting is defined as deceiving a person or group of people through repetition of of a constructed false narrative.

Now, there's more to it that I'm going to continue on.

And I want you to know that as we go along and just explaining what gaslighting is, we're going to talk about some of the common signs and side effects.

And then I'm going to read to you a little bit about the movie itself, Gaslight.

And then I'm going to conclude by sharing with you a story that came to mind as I woke up this morning, a remembrance of my senior year in college when I was among a group of girls living together.

And we were collectively gaslit.

Oh, let me give you some further things I noticed concerning this definition of gaslight or gaslighting rather.

I read on Google that most users on Reddit, which I never go to, they agree that gaslighting is a distinct or is distinct from a simple disagreement or a casual lie because its core intent is a systemic pattern of control.

Now, this is interesting.

There could be regular deception.
