Ep 437: The Rocketeer (35th anniversary) Recap and Review

But yeah, we are here to talk about The Rocketeer for its 35th anniversary coming out in 1991. this month and another reason why i put this movie on the schedule is because i have never seen it before i get into my sort of neophyte thoughts about this can you give me a little bit of your background um of your background with this character and whether or not you kind of dipped into his sort of comic lore um because i think this is one of the more either underrated or just undiscovered comic book films because the adaptation is not something of the big two.

And so some people I think could just watch this and think it's just a kind of cool action movie, but it's actually based off a golden age comic.

So did you have any background going into, I would say like your first viewing of this film? Is that something that you ended up getting after the fact? And what did you think of this film when you initially watched it?

I did not have any background prior to it.

When the movie came out, I was 11 years old.

Okay.

So that means, yes, I'm old.

But no, it was, you know, 91.

We were a couple of years removed from the 89 Batman.

And so it was like, oh, cool.

Comic book movie.

I don't remember if the Alec Baldwin, the shadow was before or after this.

I think it was before this.

Yeah.

And then the Phantom was later.

I

will check out that real quick.

But was this a theater watch?

It was, yes.

Wow, that looks pretty cool.

Dad, do you want to go to a movie? Shadow is 94.

Oh,

it

was after? Okay.

Yeah,
