I remember quite clearly the day that Josh went from a fellow school acquaintance to a friend.
I was standing on my parents' suburbanite front lawn and noticed Josh rollerblading a block away.
Uh, to be clear, I was still very afraid of it, mind you, being young and told rock music was bad, but it definitely planted a seed.
Him and I have always been very different people, and that only increased in our adulthood.
But I will always credit him with introducing me to heavy, aggressive, angry, loud, raucous, and passionately screaming music, like the band and album this episode is about.
I learned about this band from one of many compilations put out by the record label Tooth & Nail Records, a Christian label that gave exposure to several loud bands when no one else in the Christian music market was.
Project 86's music stuck out to me from all the rest, with the lead singer's impossible-to-ignore delivery to their lyrics, which dealt with many topics that I was working through as a young person.
