Friday Husker Tailgate/Oregon: Opening Segment

Well, I think-

There's a lot that goes into that, but-

There is, because part of this too is that Oregon right now is a, a shell of what they were expected to be.

But yeah, there was a lot of good things that came out of last week.

Um, you know, we found out, you know, that this defense is, is, is for real, especially the run defense.

You know, the, one of the biggest concerns we had in the preseason was the, the size and the, the ability of the defensive line, and, and I thought they played very well.

I, I mean, I, I'm still, I'm still blown away by the numbers and how much they really don't match the result of the game.

Uh, you know, Indiana needed to run the football.

They couldn't.

Um, you know, a- and still ended up finding a way to win.

But you, you, if, if, I think if you went through that film, and I bet you anything, sure, was there some, you know, nitpicking and, and overanalys- o- overanalysis on the, on the big touchdown breakdowns? Absolutely.

Because, you know, football coaches never wanna make you feel like, you know, you figured it all out.

But I guarantee you there was a lot of good stuff that happened in that film room.

You know, a lot of guys was like, "See, this is the kind of effort we need.

This is what, you know, you, you were in the right place here." Um, I, I bet there was a lot of praising in that film room with, you know, the undercurrent of, "But we gotta be better."

Mm-hmm.

"We gotta be better on every single play."

Mm-hmm.

"We've gotta be buttoned down on every single play because all it takes is, you know, one break like Indiana got or, you know, one missed deal," and, and I'm, I don't know how much time we'll spend on it today, but, you know, that fourth down play in the fourth quarter is gonna be, it has been diagnosed and over-diagnosed all week long.

But while we focus on the negative in a loss, there's an awful lot of positive that came out of this.

Saw some great creativity in the offensive run game, um, and heck, even in the passing game, uh, especially in the first half.

We saw, you know, Nyziah Hunter, who we've been waiting for all year long to, you know, do something, was a huge factor in Nebraska getting out to an early lead.

And, and Anthony Colandrea has, has, you know, proven, I think, to a lot of folks he is a star.

He is the, he is the straw that stirs the drink.

And, you know, now it's just about stringing together wins.
