Prospering by Providence: Jacob's Wise Request (Genesis 30:25-34) [Video]

Thank you, Sister Joy.

Take your Bibles and turn to Genesis chapter 30.

Brother Ron, I'd like for you to lead in the reading if you can.

Genesis chapter 30.

I

have Brother Pat, Brother Ron both lead.

I appreciate that.

We'll begin in verse number 25 of chapter 30, and we'll read through verse 34, 25 through 34.

And as Brother Ron comes up, let's all stand, please, for the reading of God's word.

Okay, I'll go ahead.

We'll go ahead and we'll read the odds together and I'll read the evens.

And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto my own place, into my own country.

Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go, for thou knowest my service, which I have done thee.

Said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thine eyes, carry, for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.

And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.

And I served thee, and the cattle was with me.

For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude.

And the Lord hath blessed thee since my coming, and now one shall I provide for my own house also.

He said, What shall I give thee? Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me anything.

If thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock.

I will pass through all thy flock today, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and of such shall be my hire.

So shall my righteousness answer before me.

and come, when it shall come from high and higher before thy face.

Everyone that is not speckled and spotted among the goats and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.

And Lamed said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.

All the she goats that were speckled and spotted and every one that had some, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

And he set three days journey betwixt him and Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.

Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your word, and we pray now that you would that you would soften our hearts, that you would open our eyes, and that you would give us ears to hear what the Spirit has to say to us.

And pray, Lord, that the Spirit of God would use our pastor to teach us your word.
