**When was the last time you truly listened to yourself?** Not the constant thoughts racing through your mind. Not the endless to-do list. Not the worries about tomorrow or the replay of yesterday…
Heather McNallyHost
When was the last time you really listened to yourself? I mean, really listened to yourself.

Not the voice in your head that's making all the lists and constantly problem-solving.

And not to the part of you that's worrying about tomorrow or [laughs] replaying yesterday or that thing that you wish you hadn't said and it's running over and over and over in your head.

I mean your breath, your heart, your nervous system, that quiet little feeling that is saying to you, "Something isn't right." Or maybe it's saying, "Yeah, this feels like home." When was the last time you really listened? I'm really curious.

And if you've been with me for a while now listening to the podcast, you know that I talk a lot about awareness, acknowledgement, and choice.

And those three words have become the foundation of so much of my work, and it's true.

It's because I truly believe that awareness is the starting point of all change for everything.

But over the last, I'd say year, um, something has been kind of happening inside of me.

I've been spending time trying to figure this out for myself, okay? And I've spent years telling people that awareness changes everything, and I still believe that with my whole heart and soul.

Sometimes it begins the moment that we stop fighting ourselves long enough to hear what our body has been trying to tell us all along.

That realization of awareness that is happening in our bodies, in me, it's been changing me.

So because if I'm really telling you the truth, I spent most of my life living from the neck up.

I thought that my way through everything was to figure it out, to think, to analyze everything, to plan, figure it all out, anticipate ahead of time, solve the problems before they even happened.

When you don't know what's gonna be coming down the road, if you're spending all your time in your head of figuring out what's going on down the road, you're not connected.

I was overthinking, pushing through sheer exhaustion, ignoring the discomfort that I truly felt coming up in my body, and I convinced myself that if I could just think hard enough, I could figure it all out.
