Colossians 2: 6 – 81. Rooted And Built Up in Jesus2. Hollow And Deceptive Philosophy, Which Depends On Human Tradition
John Z. JohnHost
We began with Colossians 2:6-8, and we touched upon verse six... oh, sorry, verse seven, "Rooted and built up in Christ Jesus." Right? Rooted.

We began this service even by saying the same things, right? We began by saying we are trusting in God.

The eighth verse: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy." Hollow and deceptive philosophy.

And where does that philosophy depend on? That philosophy depends on human tradition and the spiritual elemental, spiritual forces of this world rather than Christ.

So this philosophy that people talk about, people try to explain, people try to, you know, bring to us is based on what? Human tradition, human experience.

What matters to me, what matters to you, what matters to us in US could be based on the culture here, and what matters in India would be little different because certain things are based on the culture there.

Families, in the same family, Joanne can think different, Prince can think different, Shiza can think different, and so are the boys.

So Paul is teaching Timothy, "Timothy, I want you to be a leader, a leader who's not driven by human tradition, a leader who's not driven by what he said, I said, you said, a hu- a, a leader who's driven by what God's Word says," not philos- because these philosophies are hollow.
