Lave Radio Episode 580 - Om Nom Nom Nomad

Anyway, the development news.

What have the desks said this week? Well, now this is interesting.

On the 29th of May, they dropped a little teaser, which was highlighted.

The surface is calling, discover the next new elite dangerous vessel.

So that had people speculating left, right, and center as they saw a gentle commander in their ship.

suit and what looked like two big jet engines hanging around it and things like that where the massive amount of speculation about oh look this is going to be a massive SRV look at the size of the the engines that you need to to write it because when you look at the the scarab it's got of course it's got tubelman uh self-writing engines that help you hover and all the rest of it But then it turns out, as was announced today, it's Discover the Nomad.

Now, this is a small but mighty explorer.

It's basically a ship-launched vessel, a shuttle or explorer vessel, or call it what you wear.

It's not a ship-launched fighter.

It is something different, which is new.

Yes, and it creates a new kind of exploration approach for commanders.

So you can still land in your large explorer vessels, but instead, you could actually launch one of these... and land in one of these on the planet instead.

Very useful for those people who have the inability to land a Caspian, which I know there's been a lot of complaints about that.

I would say, like, even if you find it easy to land a Caspian, you ain't going to land it where this fucker can land.

Do you know what I mean?

Oh, yes.

Yes.

So, yes.

Basically, it's a Star Trek shuttle.

So, we've had a good look at all the images that came with it today.

Let's quickly go around the crew.

Let's have a look at your first impressions.

Claire, do you want to go first?

Oh, man, I categorically don't explore.

And this isn't for me at all.
