Pastor Paul Chappell: A Promise Fulfilled

You know, we're living in days where we see relentless attacks on the principles of God and the principles of God's Word.

I mean basic things like the Ten Commandments, those Judeo-Christian principles delineated in the Word of God and promulgated by our founders are now being denied access to public places here in our country.

Even though when the Supreme Court was constructed that atop the Supreme Court there's a relief of Moses signifying the importance of the law of God as a part of the early philosophy of this nation, many have nothing to do with such concepts.

We think of principles so basic as the teachings of Genesis 2.24.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.

Many deny and even vilify the concept of a family unit in that structure.

We think of the principles of creation, how that in the book of Genesis, the Bible says that God created male and female.

And this month, people will rage and promote their non-binary philosophy, their gender expansive philosophies, which are not supported biblically nor scientifically.

And why does this happen? The Bible gives great explanation in Romans chapter 3.

The Bible teaches that many have destruction and misery in their ways and the way of peace they have not known because there is no fear of God before their eyes.

Solomon said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but with no fear of God, there's great devastation that comes into our culture.

Many folks today that have turned against God and have followed after false teachings, such as I have mentioned, have become more angry towards the church, more vitriolic toward people of faith.

Violence against churches increased in America last year by 500%.

It's sad to say that we've seen even lives lost because of that terrible hatred toward God.

But in recent days we have seen a renewed anger toward a very basic truth in Scripture, and that is the principle of Israel's right to exist and to be blessed according to God.

In fact, the Jerusalem Post reported just this past week that anti-Semitism was up 70% in May of 2026 as compared to May of 2025 as a result of the growing anti-Semitism in New York City.

The FBI statistics for 2025 indicated that of all the religious hate crimes in America in 2025, 64% of them were aimed at Jewish people.

In this country, antisemitism is growing, sad to say.

Even in some Christian circles, young people have been persuaded against God's word by internet trolls and media stories and being persuaded against God's chosen people.

Now sadly, this is nothing new.

Sadly, this problem has existed for centuries.

If you travel any length of time in Europe, you'll see the remnants of this and even the present day signs of this.

I remember a few years ago visiting Regensburg, Germany, and as we were there, we noticed that there was a monument to the location of a prior synagogue dating back to the 1300s, 1400s even.

The synagogue had been destroyed and some had placed these pillars to remind modern-day citizens of the difficulties of centuries past.

And when you study out the difficulties that they faced, you could find the center of it in the cathedral that was in the city square.
