We are pretty committed to not using fear or coercion to motivate behavior change.

If that isn't obvious, um, fear, when fear and coercion are used to change behavior, it's temporary at best and toxic at worst.

I'm pretty convinced- Yeah ... that, uh, when you look at Jesus' teaching, He, He didn't use fear and coercion.

He didn't make people, you know? Like, like there was one time He was preaching and it says that before He was done preaching, everybody walked away.

Like, how bad of a communicator do you have to be for everybody to walk away in four minutes, you know? [laughs] They're just, they just weren't ready for it, you know? And it...

He says, He says to His disciples, "Hey, are you gonna leave too?" And they're like...

We're all in on how you see the world, how you see God, how you apply scripture.

They said, "No, we're not going anywhere, 'cause we don't have anywhere else to be." [laughs] Which i- which is so un-compelling.

That'd be like, that'd be like your wife asking you, "Why'd you marry me?" And your only answer is, "Well, the other chick was ugly," you know? [laughs] Opt- option B was, option B was substandard, so you'll do, you know? And so...

But s- so, so, so one of them says, "But Jesus, they didn't buy what you were selling," you know? Wow.
