Great Smoky Mountains with Kids: Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Chattanooga

Well, if we're going to talk about Chattanooga specifically, you heard the song, the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

It is a Glenn Miller song from the 40s.

When people think about Chattanooga, they think about trains.

And we also have the Tennessee Valley Railroad that runs out of here and they do history train tours, which is really cool.

There are also other unique things that you can do.

Again, talking Chattanooga specifically, you could go on the incline railway, which goes up Lookout Mountain at a 72.7% grade.

It's a really steep incline.

It's all glass roof.

So you're sideways going up the mountain, but you're looking out over this view.

It's amazing.

It's been there for 130 years.

We went to the 130-year celebration, and they were selling tickets for that day.

They were only $1.30.

They are not normally only $1.30.

I love it.

It was just that particular event.

There's also Rock City.

Have you seen the Sea Rock City signs? They're painted.

So if you're driving through East Tennessee, North Georgia area, if you see a barn, a lot of times the barn's roof will be painted and it'll say Sea Rock City.

It is a great marketing campaign for this attraction that it has trails through caves.

They do events like their Holiday Enchanted Lights event.

They have a spot where you can stand that they claim you can see seven states from.

Really? Yes.

So it's definitely something to behold.

So that was Chattanooga specifically, the Appalachian Trail.
