Talent Is BACK: July-September Music Chat

I had a good July, frankly.

For me, the month started with Kalela putting out new Avatar.

And my sort of lesbian... lesbian pantheon yes let's say that my lesbian pantheon if you open up the book of danny and you get to the lesbian chapter it will start with kalela um yes because hallucinogen was a very important important album to me in terms of for whatever there are like some things that you make you realize oh wait this is who i am hallucinogen despite not being a very like a lesbian album colella's not a lesbian uh it just came around that time where i said something's percolating here and i think it's

lesbianism How many lesbians have been converted by a beautiful African woman? Doesn't matter whether or not she's a lesbian.

No, she'll always do it for you.

So like Kalela is an artist that I really, I really enjoy, really look out for.

I didn't like her last album.

And frankly, when she was releasing the singles for this, I believe Idea One was first.

I think so.

That is the first song.

Yeah.

Which isn't always how it goes, but.

Yeah.

I think Idea One released it.

I said, okay, it's not bad, but like, I'm not, there's, I'm not really in love with it.

And I felt that way about every single, honestly, where I said, I like it, but I'm not in love with it.

I think this album really pulls it all together.

Yeah.

I'd agree with that.

She's always been really good at making very floaty, futuristic R&B albums.

Her voice isn't very prominent in them, but the beat kind of pounds a little bit.

This is what Kalila does very well.

She does that with New Avatar, but throws in a little bit of a grungy guitar, a heavy synth, That sounds really, really good.

Yeah, this is like a R&B future garage pop album, I guess.

If you have to put genre terms on it, that is vaguely how I would describe it.
