Devarshi Steven Hartman - "Infinite, Eternal, and Whole"

And there you have it.

I hope you enjoyed that.

I imagine there's lots that we might consider off top.

I would say that these three essentials that Devarshi is putting forth in his book, which we referenced, I think are pretty solid core principles that I observed to be true in my practice.

And I think if we're going to anchor ourselves to core principles of practice, we're totally on the same page there.

I would say that there is a number of other things in the book beyond just those core principles.

And those other things are why we kind of got into all the different places that we got into.

He offers a lot of his own personal story.

And in sharing his experiences, to me, it was very... of what I think is a commonly held view in yoga.

It certainly was a view that I held and that I came into yoga, like the idea that yoga was for inner peace and personal transformation.

I'm always saying that, you know, that yoga wasn't about all the stuff that we're marketing it as now, that it was about inner peace.

And I think the Varshi is a very good example of that.

how yoga was when I got to it.

That feeling of let's ask deeper questions.

Let's become aware of our own patterns and shape them anew.

I still am doing it to this day.

I will say though that I did not know that Devarshi was Amrit Desai's personal assistant or that he was so close to him.

after reading the book and clicking around his website, it didn't say that anywhere.

So I didn't know.

I mean, I knew he had been at Kripalu, but I didn't know that.

And I was kind of surprised.

I didn't realize that before I talked to him that that was the case.

And it wasn't really something I wanted to like press on, but I do think it was very interesting because it's true that his title was Yogi Amrit Desai, not Swami Amrit Desai.

And I never even really put that together.

You know, I had his daughter Kamini Desai on years ago that he had a family and kids, you know, while he was the head of this renunciate community.
