Aoife McMahonGuestStephanie DodierHostIt's very reflective of the journey that most of us have had in the field, which is we start thinking weight loss is the solution.
Right? Intuitive eating or wellness culture kind of help because I'm a lot in the health coaching space, like can we do the two? And then there's the last phase, which is phase three, which is like, no, we can't do the two because it really doesn't help any way to lose weight, and then we finally get on over the fence of, like weight inclusive, so.
And what I love is the breadth of different- ... dieting tool that you've experienced.

Um, I think it's a really good question, and something that I like to discuss quite openly and introduce into the conversation is, um, where have we seen this before? Have we seen this before? Have we seen anything similar to this before? Um, and you know, from when I was doing deep dives in terms of weight inclusivity, intuitive eating, um, what I came across was that we've been releasing weight loss medications that are the next new cure-all since at least the '70s.

Um, and so we have been here somewhat before, where there's, there's weight loss medications that promise to lose weight, keep it off for good.

Um, and some of the similarities that I see that, that are flags, right, that you kinda tune into is, is that specifically when we're starting to talk about the GLP-1s, from early on they have been promising weight loss for good, and on their website saying, "This is weight loss that goes off and stays off." Um, and from my perspective as a, a, a research-based, evidence-based clinician, um, and when I looked at the research, that hasn't been shown yet.
