The Eagles battled in London but ultimately suffered a tough loss to the Jaguars, leaving Erik and Matt with plenty to unpack. On this episode of Inside The Eagles Redzone, we spread the blame around…
Um, I listened to a little bit of PHOY's post-game show, um, before I got on the pod here, and I'm going, "You know what? There's, there's problems.
There's a lot of problems with this team right now." Can they get fixed? I don't know.
I think that Jacksonville team and Kansas City are the two best teams in the AFC right now.
I know we're only in week five, but I, that's the pecking order for the AFC right now is Kansas City and Jacksonville.
I, you know, I, I'm sitting there going, "I..." Personally, here, I'll explain this.
If I'm a head coach, do I need to tell my special teams coordinator, Michael Clay, who's been here for six years at least-
... um, and my kicker, that is a Pro Bowler and is a nine-year veteran to kick the ball into the back of the end zone? If that's what they wanted to do, and me as a head coach, I shouldn't need to s- Like, that should be the given.
But the more I get away from it, I also see, do you want to give a team the ball at the 35? Cam Little can hit from 60.
So maybe if you have, if, if Michael Clay can get the guys to tackle, you know, then he, then he kick the ball and they're at the 30 with four seconds left, then it's a hail M- 'Cause that's the thing.
If that, if the special teams unit actually tackles beforehand, you know, before he breaks free out of that first initial grouping and is off to the races, you give them one play, and it has to be a Hail Mary.
So I kind of understand why you kick and go, "Okay, we're gonna trust our coverage here, um, to make a tackle, not let him get down to the 40-yard line, uh, to give Cam Little the opportunity to hit the 57-yarder to walk the game off." But Cam Little is the official kicker of the Inside the Eagles Red Zone podcast.
