I mean, as a Rams fan, we were a very dysfunctional franchise for a long time.

I've always said this about Sam Bradford, like...

He's the only quarterback I've ever seen that rolls to his left as a right-handed thrower and is still as accurate as any – as if he's standing in the pocket.

Like, he was just phenomenal at that.

The fact that Arbuckle was so successful before he got there, including with the same QB, and Venable's former offensive coordinator, Jeff Lebby, is now developing a superstar QB at Mississippi State suggests this might be a head coach-specific problem.

The irony here is that the patriarch of modern Oklahoma football, Bob Stoops, has himself a renowned defensive coordinator, but his first OC hire was none other than Mike Leach, and over his tenure, Stoops coached two Heisman-winning quarterbacks, Jason White and Sam Bradford, and two Heisman finalists, Josh Heupel and Baker Mayfield, who won the year after he left.

Though Stoops was Venable's mentor, he did not seem to pass along this ability.

When can we have a conversation about ESPN ruining college game day by going to SC schools most of the time? So far, Clemson at LSU, Ohio State at Texas, and Ole Miss at now Tennessee at Texas.

They got backups in there and they're just giving up instant pressures time and time again.

And just like with Sam Bradford in 2016, if you're getting pressured that much, you're Like, I think if you have the 20th best offensive line, you're fine.

If you have the 30th, you're in a lot of trouble.

It's really going to degrade what the quarterback can do.

And then you got Case Keenum, Peyton Manning, Kyle Orton.

And the Rams, meanwhile, went Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, Sean Hill, and Sam Bradford in those four wins.

So the history of this matchup is really interesting.
