In the 2026 World Economic Forum Global Risk Report, it said that nearly half of all global leaders anticipate a highly turbulent environment this year.

And this is up 14% from the previous year's report.

And

can be quite natural to ask, how do we remain centered in a world that's full of change? In our passage for today, the Apostle Paul is writing to a community that was going through plenty of change.

You see, the church of Colossae, they had just been planted by a church planter called Epaphras.

And they were very young in their faith.

They were just starting out.

And already they were facing pressures to turn away from their faith in Jesus.

And so Paul writes this letter as an encouragement to this young church.

It's full of wisdom.

And just as a quick overview, Colossians has four chapters, and it starts with personal greetings, as Paul always does, and then it follows quite a classic two-part Pauline structure.

The first part, generally speaking, is doctrinal, and the second part is a bit more practical.

And the doctrinal part lays down the truth about who God is and who we are in Him.

And the practical part says, this is therefore how you should live in light of the doctrine.

Scholars call this the indicative imperative structure.

But how do you know when you're going from the indicative to the imperative? Well, one of the clues is found in the phrases, so then, or therefore, which we call hinge points.

You know, some people say if there is a therefore, there must be a reason is therefore.

And so we're going to look at these two therefore passages today.
