Hello friends! Singer, songwriter, author, and advocate for survivors of domestic abuse, Courtney Santana is my guest for episode 1600! After decades of singing back-up for the likes of Shinyribs, Jesse Dayton, and others and singing on over 30 albums, Courtney has released her debut album, the deeply soulful *Living Through It All* available now on all streamers, vinyl, and CD on Hardcharger Records. She co-wrote and co-produced the album with legendary artist Jesse Dayton who also plays guitar on the record. Courtney will be playing at Americana Fest in Nashville on Sept. 18 & 19, on Tuesday, Sept. 22 for HAAM Day in Austin, and on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Waterloo Records at 5:30 pm. Go to courtneysantana.com for show dates and info, music, and more. We have a great conversation about finally getting around to making her own album, making an album that offers encouragement and the darkest of times, her years singing back-up, living through domestic abuse, raising two kids, becoming a grandmother, her memoir about survival "Off Kilter: Getting Right After Abuse", her Survive to Thrive Foundation, her Sanctuary App, using her life experience to make great art and help others, and much more. I had a great time getting to know Courtney. I'm sure you will too. Let's get down!
