We're back! In this episode, Gracie, Kate and Victoria debrief the trip: the nerves of our first media accreditation, what it was like stepping behind the scenes, the stories we couldn't fit into a…
Well, first of all, it was very surreal.
You know, I still don't think the dust has settled yet.
I'm still quite like in a state of disbelief that I was one there because these were my first basketball games that I've actually been to in person.
But as well as that, you know, I had the media side of it as well, which I'm beyond grateful for.
But yeah, everything's a bit still surreal at the minute.
Yeah, it was such a great experience.
I was not totally sure what to expect because I haven't worked with FIBA before in a media space.
But like behind the scenes, on the court, during the games, after the games, before the games, practices, and honestly just being in the city, all of the basketball people, the fans, the community they were there, it was a really special time.
So
it was great.
It was great to like feel the global intensity of it all.
Like the players had an opportunity to talk about their stories in this one concentrated space for a week.
So in that space, it felt extra special and extra important.
Like it was really important to us that we like gave the players the opportunity to speak about things that they wanted to, not just basketball also.
So that was different for sure.
Like there was definitely an intensity because of the global aspect for sure.
Yeah, seeing the emotions up close was kind of insane.
I got the chance as well to go on tickets to the first day of games.
So obviously it was my first experience going to one of these games in person, women's basketball game in person with all these players that I watch, you know, week in, week out on the TV at like silly times at night.
So I was like, okay, fan first.
I'm going to go on the tickets.
I'm going to sit in a normal seat.
I'm going to watch the basketball games and I'm going to enjoy it.
And my seat, I didn't even realize until I got there, it was right behind the bench.
