So, not often enough do we as priests talk enough about the first readings.

And I want to talk about this because what was the first reading about? You all listened to it, right? Anger.

Now, you all remember...

The seven deadly sins.

What are the seven deadly sins? Pride, sloth, which is not just physical laziness, spiritual laziness, not spending any time in prayer, laying on the couch rather than being and doing in the presence of God.

Then you have anger.

wrath then you have lust then you have envy then you have gluttony and that's not just too much food gluttony many of us I rarely hear confessed do it all the time gluttony with internet gluttony with cell phone gluttony with pleasure not just food and then there is greed now two of those are really related but very rarely do we think about that or do we know that and guess it is probably the most connection of any of those seven are between surprisingly according to Thomas Aquinas lust and anger those two are intimately connected.

Now, why is that such? Well, we read in the first reading that our postulant Joshua read is when you talk about the flesh, and in the same sentence, it was related to anger.

Now, there's something happening right now that I think a lot of us just kind of casually say, oh, that's, you know, that's a bad thing and never think more about it.

But I think the significance of it is one of the most troublesome of our times.
