I'm a mortgage expert.
So, you know, if you'd like to ask me a question, you certainly can.
I know the question is going to come up today.
It always does on these weeks where we have a prime rate increase.
I mean, it's literally been top, top of the top of the news.
Top of the news, you know, in a lot of ways.
In a busy news day.
You're right.
No kidding.
It's been top of the news because, yes, the Fed did vote to raise the prime rate this week.
All of the people on the Fed board voted to raise the prime rate.
And it is one of the things that they can do.
It's one of the levers that they can pull to actually try and curb inflation.
Mm-hmm.
uh because it it does a lot of things with big big huge corporations and companies as to how they borrow money on a daily basis to you know to do different things a lot of those companies are borrowing money using it different ways all the time so when it gets harder to buy or borrow that money for example if you're borrowing money to build giant data centers and all of a sudden that money just got a quarter point more expensive it can slow down that kind of runaway investment or inflation.
That's just one example of what they're saying could, would be affected.
And it doesn't affect this question I got many times this week.
It does not directly affect the mortgage rates.
Right.
That's a confusing thing because everyone hears that and they just think, oh, that's mortgage rates.
Friday, Thursday, Friday, the rates were literally the same as what they were the day before.
And a couple days before, the prime rate was increased.
What you will see the prime rate effect are your credit card rates.
So you don't miss out on the big thing.
