NHL Tradepalooza Breakdown + Texas Expansion News

as well so you can either listen to it on the hockey talk with tg podcast or you can go to the tg hockey channel and listen to it so it's on there i put it out earlier so if you haven't already make sure to go give it a watch it is an updated one from the trade palooza that happened on Tuesday which I'm going to go ahead and discuss all these trades so we're not going to be stalling too long on this we're going to go ahead and get started into discussing all these trades that happened on Tuesday this week Start off with the first trade, this Tuesday trade, Palooza.

Simone Nemec was traded to the Calgary Flames by the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Maxim Slipakoff, I don't know if I pronounced that right, but he was also traded to the Flames with Simone Nemec.

And this trade immediately gives the Flames another potential cornerstone piece on their blue line.

And I think they're going to be going after another defenseman in the draft.

There's so many defensemen.

This draft is stacked with defensemen than there is with four.

It's highly likely, even though some Flames fans say, we got Simone Nemec, we don't need another defenseman.

But it's highly likely that the Flames will go after another defenseman.

And honestly, why not? I mean, you can build up your decor for the future on the blue line.

So I don't think this is a bad move by Conway because the top three forwards in Gavin McKenna, who's going to be going first overall to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ivar Stenberg, who we know is going to go second overall to the Sharks after the Sharks traded away William Eklund to the Senators.

Caleb Maholtra to play with his dad.

He's going to go third overall to the Vancouver Canucks.

So that's your three fours of the draft already gone.

So why not just go after another defenseman? It's going to help out with their blue line for the future.

So smart move and a good trade for Calgary if you ask me.

And so the Devils get back conditional first round picks in the 2027 NHL Draft and 2028 NHL Draft.

A second round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and then defenseman prospect Etienne Morin.

I don't know if I pronounced that right.

The first rounders came from Vegas, 2027, and Colorado of 2028.

Both conditional picks are top 10 protected.

And take a look at Samal Nemec.

He was drafted second overall by the Devils in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Played in 155 NHL games with the Devils and had 49 points in 155 games played.

So 15 goals, 33 assists for Samal.
