We'd been out and we'd got food and one of my friends was swinging his skateboard around his head and I stepped out to avoid it and I stepped onto the road and I got hit by a four-wheel drive.

From impact, I was thrown 15 meters, landed on the concrete of the road, had a fractured skull, was completely unconscious, started losing blood, and then went into a coma for seven days.

And so while I was in that coma, I had to have a blood transfusion on arrival.

And there was obviously a blood donor that gave blood that literally saved my life.

And so when I woke up out of the coma and out of the surgery, I had a short-term brain injury, the doctors said.

But I'm here to tell you this morning, the doctors clearly said it was short-term brain injury, just to let you know.

But I remember, you know, I don't actually remember much because I lost a lot of my memory.

So I literally have, I don't remember a lot of things, but that's another story.

My wife will say that's other things, but I tell her, brain injury, you know, there's reasons why we forget things.
