Th- been a lot of fun things coming out of, uh, media day, but Quin Snyder talking about why, you know, the things that he thinks kind of attributed to them becoming, you know, pretty much the hottest team in the, uh, in the NBA after the All-Star break.

And, uh, one of it came from CJ McCollum, and not the veteran leadership in terms of his offense, but his defense.

And McCollum's not known for being a scorching athlete, some sort of, um, lockdown defender.

But what he really does is he, he knows how, his limitations, he knows what he's good at, and he, he does a great job of not putting himself in positions to fail.

Sometimes the best defender in the world isn't necessarily the best athlete, it's the person that's always in the right spot, the person who's always has the right rotation, the person who's, who's always in the perfect place, a- you know, um, preventing the swing pass, off ball, one foot in the lane, you know, moving in and out, not getting that defensive three count.

And also not putting themselves in a position to get burned with a skip pass over the top.

And so I feel like CJ McCollum's athleticism, where it is, is kind of a perfect recipe for that.

Because on offense, he knows his limitations, and he doesn't put himself in positions to turn the ball over very often.

Um, you know, Quin Snyder kind of mentioned that, uh, CJ has a great way of, uh, forcing younger guards that he's playing to over-dribble and put themselves in spots where they can create...

May- maybe he doesn't necessarily create the turnover, but it helps create the environment that will ultimately lead to that turnover.

And, uh, then Quin later went on to talk about l- his ideal scenario for the Hawks and how he's looking at them this year, is not having a liability anywhere on the floor.

Right? So not having guys that are just one-dimensional, you know, not having it...

And not bring anyone off the bench who is just like, "Okay, let's just see if, you know, this dude can hit threes." I mean, that kind of would be my own, only question mark with Kispert, if he's [laughs] on the roster towards, you know, at some point or we, you know, um, if we part ways then.

But he would be, like a d- uh, you know, documented defensive liability, unless they, they've kind of worked with him and they've kind of talked about their strategy.

And I think a lot of those guys, they're gonna have to make the most with the minutes that they're gonna get, 'cause they're not gonna get a ton.

Everyone's talking about the, the character of this dude, the work ethic of this dude, and the flat out just skill and ability of Kingston Flemings.

It looks like we got an absolute steal, even though it, it's, is at number eight.
