The One Where We Will Never Forget

Well, big day this week in memory.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years.

It's been a quarter of a century since – 9-11, 2001 happened.

It's been, you know, we were talking about just COVID the other day and when 2020 happened, March of 2020, when a lot of places shut down.

I mean, that was six years ago.

But 9-11, the attacks on the country on September 11th, 2001, 25 years ago.

Yeah.

Do you remember where you were? I do, 100%.

Life of Kansas.

I was waking up.

It was a Tuesday, new release Tuesday.

I was working at Hastings Entertainment.

So we always get there early and make sure all the new release stuff is out.

This is back in the day when Tuesdays were movies came out on Tuesdays.

Music came out on Tuesdays.

And so I remember waking up to my alarm, which is never an alarm.

It's always the radio.

to this day, that's the way it is.

And I remember hearing them talking about nine or talking about the world trade centers being hit.

And I was like, well, are they replaying the 93 in 1993, the world trade centers were bombed in the parking garage.

And so I was like, Oh, are they replaying something from that? And then it became really real.

And then people started coming to work, talking about it.

We pulled the, little TV out of the break room, set it up in my music area, the music department, and sat there and watched 9-11.

Then we had a gas station right outside of Hastings Entertainment, Olathe, Kansas, right there on Santa Fe in Merlin.

That gas station was backed up all day.
