Socialist Alliance candidate and former Geelong City Councillor Sarah Hathway joined *Green Left Radio* on October 23 to discuss the right wing hypocrisy on the attack on Helen Haines. Hathway was…
Sarah HathwayGuestGreen Left Radio HostHostSarah had recently commented on the very horrific attack on elected independent MP Helen Haynes.
You raised a number of comments in an article that you published for Green Left with Sue Bolton, who's also running as a Socialist Alliance candidate for the upcoming Victorian elections.
What are your comments on how the right wing and the establishment has weaponised the attack on Helen Haynes?

Yeah, I think it's pretty outrageous how quickly the right wing and mainstream media were to essentially take a couple of posts on social media and history of limited history of environmental advocacy and sensationalise it to greenie pro-Hamas activist runs down an MP.

I'm over-exaggerating a little bit, but not by much, particularly going by some of the recent front pages of the Australian and the Western Australian newspapers.

And Andrew Bolt has also come out telling the left to take its own advice and tone down the hate.

Which is just ridiculous coming from one of the most right-wing reactionary commenters who regularly spews hate and divisiveness on editorial.

It's absolutely shocking and a tragedy what's happened to, to Helen and her family.

But I just think it's, it's a disgrace how this has been weaponized so quickly.

And I think it's clear the right and the media are just looking for anything they can to, to kick anyone from the center through to the left.
