I got to chat with Bavo about his leadership philosophy and his approach to team management. We discussed how he seeks to keep business goals in alignment with humanity, and how to honor the value…
Well, today I have the privilege of chatting with Bavo Vanden Broecke, who oversees sales for Sucafina, functioning as a sales manager over Europe, the Middle East, and the African region.
He's focused on and invests in purposeful career development of his team and seeks to create effective team structures and impact-driven strategies in his work.
Fundamentally, his desire is to support those looking for purpose and focus in their career and the drivers that matter.
Before beginning his professional journey, he spent three years traveling in pursuit of understanding the coffee supply chain.
He worked alongside producers and exporters in Central and South America, as well as Rwanda.
These first-hand, ground-level experiences gave him a strong understanding of processing, trade, and cultivation, allowing him to connect his background in sociology to what he was learning at origin.
Many years and many travels later, he found purpose in supporting actors in the value chain, defining their role and proposition as a business, and how this influences daily operations.
His work is guided by two questions: How do we improve stakeholder businesses for the benefit of the coffee industry? And how do we make coffee trade work for the individuals involved long term? Taking on these questions has allowed him to coach sales teams and work with many actors in this fascinating world of coffee people.
