And I don't remember it, but I was told that when James was called, both of us answered.

I grew up out on the outskirts near Lake St. John, which is just basically a little branch off subdivision, kind of, sort of.

Farming and fishing has been part of my life and hunting and just rural life and gardening and been a part of who I am ever since I can remember.

The political part of Jamie and who he is, it started in the 90s when Ten South Parish School Board decided that they needed to consolidate our schools because the money wasn't matching, the amount of kids wasn't matching, and it was getting to the point where the parish was spending way more on schools and old buildings than...

And when they decided to put a consolidation plan together, I fought against it.

And the reason I fought against it was because I felt like babies didn't deserve to get up at five in the morning to go to school.

They would get up at five in the morning and get home at five and after five in the evening And that was the start of my very first political fight.

But what it told me was that I was right because not only was I fighting because I didn't want babies to have to get up that early to go to school.

But I knew what taking four schools out of a rural parish that didn't have a big tax base would do for those towns.

And you can ride through Tempsaw Parish right now and see those towns that don't have schools are basically crumbling, which is waterproof in Newelton.

There was some issues that I had with I ran for that and won, and that's how I became to be vice president of parish government.
