WE'RE FEELING QUITE HUNGRY! Hello everyone, we're back to talk about one of the best games ever made: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This week I'm joined by Adam Gumbert to review this *massive* RPG…
Adam GumbertGuestSo to start off the bat in terms of what is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, where are we at with this game? For the story setup, you know, KCD 2 takes place in 1403 in the Kingdom of Bohemia.
Uh, so for folks who don't know, you know, this is, you know, obviously the 1400s in specific areas that belong to the Bohemian Crown as well as the Holy Roman Empire.
This is, like, the area of, like, modern geography that is now known as the Czech Republic.
Um, and it follows up immediately after the end.
Like, it's a direct sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which is something interesting that I am gonna touch back, uh, with you later on in terms of your perception of, like, what this game is.
Uh, but yeah, it takes place historically in what a lot of academic circles refer to as the Western Schism.
Um, but yeah, so, so that's a little bit of, like, the historical kind of aspect of, like, where this takes place.
Just think Middle Ages.
That's, that's a long way of saying this takes place in the Middle Ages.
Um, players return to this story as Henry, uh, who was the protagonist of the first game.
He's a squire and bodyguard to a noble, uh, by the name of Sir Hans Capon, who's serving as an envoy on behalf of Margarethe Jobst.
And Jobst is seeking to return the King Wenceslas to his throne.
Uh, Henry and Hans are going on this mission to this area, and bad stuff happens.
They get set upon by bandits, and they lose all of their belongings.
Immediately, they become beggars.
Uh, they get mistaken as beggars, uh, by people of, of the nobility class, and then they get thrown in the stockade.
Uh, very quickly [laughs] Henry and Hans turn on each other because they're blaming each other for their problems, and then they have a falling out.
And so this is where the game starts.
You're left alone as Henry at the very beginning of the game.
You have nothing.
You have no money, no food.
You just gotta, you gotta thug it out.
You gotta figure it out somehow.
