There is a difference, surely, between the big players.
John IngoldHOST
33:19
If the Assassin's Creed people make Assassin's Creed Brazil, I want them to show their receipts, right? But if you're an indie developer in Brazil, you know what? Just come to the party.
John IngoldHOST
33:27
Yeah, none of that is true.
John IngoldHOST
33:30
It is difficult.
Sagar BeroshiHOST
37:41
And I'll give you all these cues, player, as to why it's out there.
Sagar BeroshiHOST
37:43
Because I won't just do that to... to Rio, I'll do that in all the cities you visit, that it'll be equally bizarre,
John IngoldHOST
37:48
right? I have a fantastic analogy, actually, to really kind of prove that point, which is, if you compare, say, Assassin's Creed Black Flag and its presentation of the Caribbean, and En Garde, the swashbuckling game nominally set in 17th century Spain, which is fantastically good, but it's obviously, they're the same game.
John IngoldHOST
38:08
They're both just, here are some guards and let's sword fight them.
Richard LovejoyHOST
9:44
Are the fights more like the high school cafeteria? There might be a bunch of people who hate you, but there's one person fighting you at the time.
Aaron AmendolaHOST
9:53
Yeah, it's very Assassin's Creed in that way, right? You can be surrounded by dudes, but it's a little bit like, what if Sekiro took out the stealth and took a little bit of inspiration from the Arkham Asylum series? Because you can be surrounded by people, but...
Aaron AmendolaHOST
10:11
It's not so much a matter of looking for when to parry, it's how to parry.
Aaron AmendolaHOST
10:16
So there's certain attacks that can only be parried with a dodge or roll.
JoeyHOST
34:03
Good guess, though, but it was Assassin.
JoeyHOST
34:05
Assassin's Creed.
NatsHOST
34:06
Dude, you guys were on a roll.
NatsHOST
34:09
I shudder.
Drew AfualoHOST
45:02
I like third-person story games.
Drew AfualoHOST
45:05
So I've played all the Assassin's Creed games, the Ghost of Tsushima.
Drew AfualoHOST
45:09
I liked Ghost of Tsushima.
Mateo LaneGUEST
45:10
Did you play Breath of the Wild?
Lexie HenningHOST
12:21
Uh, and I, I couldn't figure it out, so I'm just asking i- instead.
Lexie HenningHOST
12:24
Um, I know that the museum did an exhibit, I believe it was, like, the ancient Minoans, and I know that they put footage of Assassin's Creed in the museum to try to, um, do, like, a, a sort of hybrid exhibit where you have Like a room where you can go see 3D models, but then you have the game where you can sort of see a simulated walkthrough.
Lexie HenningHOST
12:46
Yeah, were you there when that was happening, or no?
Ben AngellGUEST
12:50
I'm afraid not, because I, I have read about it, but yeah, would've remembered it, so [laughs] clearly I didn't go.
Lexie HenningHOST
16:34
But it's interesting, though, it just...
Lexie HenningHOST
16:36
I was kind of taking a, a look at some of the games that you've worked on, um, just thinking about some of the other games, uh, the other historical games that I would sort of put in that historical category, and yeah, I think out of just pure curiosity, do you find that a certain type of game lens is easier to put more history, historical facts into than other types? I mean, I'm thinking, like, if you do, you know, the 4X strategy type of games.
Lexie HenningHOST
17:05
I know that some games like, uh, what is it called? Like Old World or Civilization, you can have, like, historical cards show up, or you can write, like, a blurb and put real history there, versus you take a thing like Assassin's Creed Odyssey where if you don't do a discovery tour type of thing, how do you put real history in there? But yeah, I'm just, just wondering, um, you know, is there something I'm missing, I guess?
Ben AngellGUEST
17:30
I guess with something like Old World or Civilization, if people haven't played those games, you're sort of, you're the ruler of a whole empire, in the case of Civilization, from the sort of Stone Age all the way to the future.

I've, uh...
Kyle KeeganGUEST
19:46
Yeah, it's just Assassin's Creed live.

19:47
Exactly.

It's very cool to see the differences of how each of those characters interact with Logan and how you can play differently with each of those characters.
J BoneHOST
28:17
Yeah, so it's very cool to see that the characters that they give you interact differently with Logan and how the abilities can work to help you or make it a little tougher, especially when you're trying to be stealthy and things like that.
J BoneHOST
28:27
There is a lot of Assassin's Creed-type gameplay to the aspect of it, I feel like, and a lot of stealth at one point.
J BoneHOST
28:34
The only thing I will say, it seems a little too, um, too straightforward of gameplay, you know? Like, even at some point you can use the R3 button to navigate exactly where to go if you feel like you're getting lost.
SteveHOST
9:13
Yep, yep.
SteveHOST
9:15
Steve? For me, okay, this might be a little unpopular, only because of the shit movie that came out before it, but Assassin's Creed.
SteveHOST
9:26
I think it can be really good.
SteveHOST
9:27
I think the video game movies have gotten a lot better, and I think they can do it some justice now.

JoeHOST
17:57
I did not grow up with Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 3.
JoeHOST
17:59
I didn't play those games.
JoeHOST
18:00
The first Tomb Raider game that I played was when they did the 2015 reboot of these things, and they made it with a third-person, almost Assassin's Creed-style look of it.
JoeHOST
18:10
And I loved it.
Rachel WeeksHOST
38:21
Mm-hmm
Jimmy WongGUEST
38:21
... like the Assassin's Creed equipment, right?
Rachel WeeksHOST
38:23
Yeah.
Jimmy WongGUEST
38:23
You just have a beater on the board.

35 MINS LATER

Josh Lee KwaiHOST
73:22
Yeah.
Rachel WeeksHOST
73:23
Um, and then having that extra gravy of protection on it on something that is, has all the upsides that you've already mentioned is, like, does make this sneaky, uh, underrated here.
Rachel WeeksHOST
73:34
And it's like it's from Assassin's Creed, which is a set that not a lot of people know very well.
Josh Lee KwaiHOST
73:38
Yep.
Simon CarlessHOST
7:34
So I think that's really, really the issue with launchers.
Chris PlanteHOST
7:37
Yeah, the strange thing about Ubisoft in particular is they also have the Assassin's Creed series, which feels like it is trying to create its own sort of launcher in which you can hop into any game you want at any time through kind of a shared universe vision.
Chris PlanteHOST
7:55
So these, I don't know, these things within the things, I was just playing Metal Gear Solid on Steam, and then the new collection, it also has this kind of overlay that you can launch instead of the games to hop into everything, and I don't know, it feels a little bit like Inception sometimes of, I would just like to play my video game.
Simon CarlessHOST
8:15
yeah i mean i mean the obvious example of that just to end is um is you know at this point call of duty sort of has the call of duty app and we and i think other people have trouble tracking individual call of duty games nowadays because a lot of the stats end up in the main call of duty app and obviously the platforms have agreed or have been forced to agree that it's okay to have a call of duty mega app um you know even steam has a lot of exceptions in place in place for call of duty so i think if you're big enough you can get away with things sometimes

And one that makes even me, somebody who didn't always wait for the sales, think, wow, I really should just wait for the sale because that's, I'm burning, for some reason in my head, I'm burning that extra 10 bucks.
Simon CarlessHOST
34:17
That's actually interesting.
Simon CarlessHOST
34:18
And I think you are in the ordinary for people who sort of like, let's say you bought an Assassin's Creed game 10 years ago for 60 bucks.
Simon CarlessHOST
34:27
I think that's what those people think.
IvanHOST
23:19
No, the, uh, where you're go- uh, the stabby stab and-
CharlesHOST
23:24
Assassin's Creed?
IvanHOST
23:25
Is, do you, the ori- what was the original-

Altair
IvanHOST
23:44
...
IvanHOST
23:44
when I saw that planet.
CharlesHOST
23:44
Especially with Assassin's Creed's kinda dips into like history and stuff like that, that'd be kind of a nice-
IvanHOST
23:50
Yeah
