It's been remiss of me.

I'm not asking you this important question.

And I think you've already touched on it.

But what is the change that you're trying to make? You put all this time and this effort into your academia, your administrative functions, your life.

You are involved in much more outside of the university as well.

What is the change that you're trying

to make? I would probably say that my purpose is to help other people flourish.

Okay, I love that.

Of course, how I do that at the moment is by helping organizations, particularly higher education institutions, to think carefully about the role of technology And then look at how we can help people develop the capabilities they need.

But we need to be able to do it at scale.

So helping people flourish is one thing.

Helping people to flourish at scale is another.

So anyway,

you're multiplying that impact.

How much do you think the advent of Gen AI is... new radical and kind of transformational pivot and how much of it is, it's the same thing that we've been trying to do for a long time.

It's another tool in the armory, but ultimately the challenges remain the same.

I don't agree that AI is just another tool.

And I've seen sort of people write and say that, that you've just got to treat it as another tool.

I don't believe that.

I believe that AI is quite profound in how it's already changing the way our society operates.

For those of us that are perhaps sort of closer to it, we can see it much quicker than those that are still just hearing about it or only engaging with it in sort of bite-sized way.

Let's understand this a

little bit better because I think most people you'd speak to will say, oh yes, I use ChatGPT, and now they might say I use Claude, but they'll use it as a generic term for GenAI, which is fine.

And they'll say, oh yeah, I use it a lot.

The vast majority of people will be using it as a word calculator to either summarize or take a small amount and make it into a large amount, as well as search the internet.
