Parody That Works for Kids and Adults8:38 – 13:26

8:38

Yeah, I think I will largely agree.

8:39

These have been this kind of, you're right to say that the humor originated in the games.

8:44

And I do think that though they've tried to do other properties, the Lego Star Wars relationship remains the standout of like, they really figured this out early and they've kind of cracked it.

8:56

I love back to when in the games the figures wouldn't talk.

8:59

They'd do gibberish or kind of sounds.

9:02

Mime it, yeah.

9:03

Yeah, and now they fully talk.

9:05

Actually, my son was just upstairs playing one of the older Lego superhero games.

9:10

Oh, cool.

9:11

He's kind of working through some of those Marvel ones.

9:12

Yeah.

9:13

And it's like, you know, they're such a great part of fandom at the game level.

9:18

And then this special, I think you're right.

9:20

To me, it was the strongest.

9:22

I think my initial thought there was to say, like, I do think they're better when they're doing parody as opposed to, like, really original.

9:30

Just for me.

9:31

Others can certainly disagree.

9:33

Um, but you know, my son and I watched all the free makers, all the rebuild the galaxy.

9:38

We, we enjoyed all of them.

9:41

Um, but actually it was my daughter and I spooled this up the day it hit Disney plus, which was perfect.

9:47

She and I had seen Mandalorian and Grogu a couple of times over the summer.

9:50

And then it was like, okay, well, we don't really need to watch the movie today, but let's go ahead and spool this up and check this out.

9:56

And she loved it and laughed a lot.

9:58

it was striking to me that, um, actually both kids ended up sitting with me while I was watching it this afternoon.

10:04

And, um, they would laugh about jokes that they didn't know the, the like, they didn't get it right.
