In this episode the Filmbros discuss DCU Projects like new Mr. Terrific show, MCU X-Men reboot, Sony cuts physical media, fancasts and Supergirl shills…
All weekend, or at least for the past two weeks, I've been going through this whole... you know, my own, what I like to say, PTSD, okay? A couple of years ago, probably around 2022, physical media has been slowly declining, okay? Maybe before that, maybe 2021, 2022, physical media has been on a slow decline.
Not a lot of people have been buying a lot of physical media where it comes to video games, when it comes to movies.
Physical media has been taking a dip and a dip hard.
Nonetheless, I cannot lie.
A lot of people, a lot of you younger folks, TikTok brain kids.
I'm looking at you, Josh.
I'm looking at the other side of the microphone here.
you guys don't do physical media why because you guys have your cellular phones and your streaming services so you guys you know you guys have kind of done away with that uh best buy basically got rid of their uh physical media section when it comes to you know movies and whatnot um they got rid of uh in walmart they reduced it target they've reduced it i believe there's no physical media sections at all if there is one it's probably like maybe like a bookshelf and that's about it uh Um, physical media for the movie side has been struggling a lot.
But one thing that had, you know, at least given me hope is that, you know, at least it will either a make a comeback as like, you know, record players have done, you know, in the, you know, recent times, record players have been kind of making a comeback, even though you do have streaming services and you can easily download the music.
A lot of people have found it fun to get the little vinyls and actually keep the, the physical, you know, physical media part of that.
But now, with chatter of GTA 6 coming around, and like I said, we're not really a video game thing, but this has to do with physical media for movies, I promise.
But with GTA 6 rolling around and announcing that it's going to be launching around November 19th this year, one thing that came with it was that gta 6 was not going to be releasing any uh physical discs with the any pre-orders or games for the next few months at least until 2027 um obviously it's one of those things where they're trying to make sure nobody hacks it or steals the stuff or whatever blah blah it's just more better to just use a code um and that sparked a lot of conversation it was like well why even pre-order a game that you're not gonna one physically own you're basically buying a box with a with a code inside of it no physical thing
right
um and two you know physical media has always been kind of a thing where like when you have it
you
have it right um we've heard about a bunch of different mishaps whether it's movies video game side um i know i've had a couple of video games where i've downloaded digitally and i can't even play those motherfuckers in for some reason.
It's just licensing ends or whatever.
So I've always been proud of having physical media within my home.
I always buy my games, physical media, if I can.
Video games, movies, all that good stuff.
But it seems as though Sony is kind of bringing that era to an end.
Video games, at least on Sony's side, PlayStation, they are going to stop making physical media games And discs by January 2028.
So you basically have an extra year all through 2027.
But by 2028, you will no longer be able to get physical anything when it comes down to PlayStation, you are only able to download stream.
And that's basically it when it comes down to your consoles.
