Frank, Bullseye.

Right.

And, a- and, you know, a lot of the stuff that I think I was upset about not seeing more of when season, when, when the Netflix show was canceled, I think we have now seen.

Like I, I thought that the way that they had set up Bullseye was really fun, and that's why I was bummed when it seemed like we would never get any more of that.

Now we have gotten the Wilson Bethel Bullseye and it's awesome.

Yeah.

least.I, yeah, I mean, I would love to see that as well, but that is not my pick for one character.

I want Dex to continue.

I want Wilson Bethel to continue playing Bullseye.

He's great.

Now, hey, all right, here, all right.

Since you want to talk about Bullseye again, I'm not mad about his role as Bullseye.

I'm mad about the director, and it made him look like shit.

He could have been awesome if it was done right.

So our top story in Wizard News this issue, Run-In with the Devil, cue Van Halen, uh, reports that Kevin Smith was returning to write a new Daredevil story as part of the hype for the February 2003 release of the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie.

The miniseries titled The Target, as drawn by Glenn Fabry, mostly known for his covers, pits Matt Murdock against his arch enemy Bullseye, who is sporting a new design closer to Colin Farrell's look in the film.

And as Smith explains, quote, "It may be off-putting to some at first, but trust me, it'll make sense by the end of the series." Now, Smith got the gig by calling out Joe Quesada on a promise the editor-in-chief made that the only way Daredevil and Bullseye would face off again was if Smith was writing the story.

So in December of 2001, current Daredevil scribe, Brian Michael Bendis, there he is again, announced that he had planned a story arc that ended with the enemies battling each other.

So Smith picked up the phone and, quote, "I reminded Joe of his promise, and Joe said he'd tell Brian to go in another way with a different villain.

So as long as I promised to turn in a Daredevil-Bullseye book before the release of the flick, I turned in the first script the following week." [laughs] And as it turns out, that was the only script he turned in.

Uh, Smith eventually, you know, finished Spider-Man and Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do several years later, but he never came back to wrap up this story.

One issue came out, and that was it.

Uh-oh, the kingpin is here and he brings along his misfit toys.

Let's not forget about the great Elektra who shows up in this film and Bullseye.

Yeah, Kingpin is in this film, which is nice because we haven't seen a lot of Kingpin representation up to this point.

And I love that.

And Bullseye is an interesting villain in the comics.

I don't know that I necessarily appreciated Colin Farrell's portrayal.

He was just kind of like a mindless dummy that was really good at darts and really good at throwing things.

especially because, like, it's weird that, like, Elektra dies in the Daredevil movie, but it's, like, somehow brought back in the Elektra movie and all that stuff.

And, yeah, like, their version, like, of Bullseye just being, like, a crazy Irishman in a leather trench coat with, like, a Bullseye scar on his head.

Could not stand it at all.

is really janky.

And let's see.

Bullseye's cool.

Hmm.

I don't know, I feel like I need a mystic villain.

I upped my X-Men game, Cyclops, Jean Grey.

I took Supergirl and Beast Boy off of the board.

I went ahead and upped my villain game again with Bullseye and Mephisto.

I took Blade.

Yeah, and so Marvel Gold 76 is kind of Marvel's celebration of its own legacy, specifically that kind of, like, 70s, Silver Age kind of grouping.

And it's bringing together some random characters in Jack of Hearts, Nova, Star-Lord, and Bullseye in a story by Stephanie Phillips, drawn by Meta Beak, Musa Bekov, And yeah, this was just kind of like classic Marvel in a modern given a modern coat of paint.

I mean, you have like bullseye getting assignments from Thanos.

Like, it's just kind of Marvel goodness.

But it's kind of the spirit of classic Marvel, where you just had fantastical characters like running around New York, weird combinations of characters like Spider-Man or Punisher, and action, kind of that hokey 70s dialogue.

I enjoyed this for being about a random ass set of characters I thought it was actually a weirdly good combination to see them all together.

And to see these cosmic characters trying to deal with people like Bullseye was pretty interesting.

The Thanos interaction with Bullseye is great.
